Love God. Love Yourself. Love People

Standard

Love. Love. Love. How often do we hear that word? It’s tossed around so lightly in today’s society. what is true love? Who loves unconditionally? How do we love ourselves? How do we genuinely love others? So many questions….one answer, Christ. God is love. It’s that simple but so hard to chew and swallow. Could you ever imagine giving up your only son to save the world? That’s the ultimate sacrifice. God=love and love=sacrifice. So how could we ever live up to that??? We can’t and aren’t expected to..(Grace) I believe God’s desire is for us to love others as He loves us. How do we do that? Love God. Love Yourself. Love People. The reason I say them in that order is because first, you must know God. We must admit we are sinners and are nothing without Him. God is our source….our power supply. A lamp is useless without a bulb and power supply. We are to build ourselves up in Him….how? By reading His word and walking with Him daily. We are weak vessels without His grace, love and guidance. When we connect with Him there’s no telling what can be accomplished. So before we can truly love we must build a relationship with Him and accept the love He offers.

Love Yourself. Truly loving yourself inside out is easier said than done. This can be a constant battle…with the mind. I believe the enemy attacks “loving yourself” soooo much! Think about it, out of not loving yourself comes – low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, drug addictions, sexual sin, suicide, cold hearts, bitterness, hatred, feeling of rejection, worthlessness etc. Seems like the root of most of our issues is out of not loving ourselves. How can something that’s meant for good be our greatest enemy? The enemy loves nothing more than to distract our minds from pure love and turns it into a selfish battle. You must love yourself before you genuinely love others. You cannot give what you don’t have. When you are building yourself up in Christ by reading the Word and praying…you are knocking down the strongholds and unifying yourself with Christ. Put on the mind of Christ daily…setting your mind on things above”. You will have to filter your mind to throw out words of defeat and hatred because the enemy will throw them at you daily. Once you do this you begin to see yourself as a child of the King, a conquerer, strong, prosperous, victorious and all the “worldly things” become unimportant. Become “Kingdom Minded” Intentionally love yourself daily. God made you, He formed you and knew you before you were even in your mother’s womb. He has a plan for you and has called you HIS….that’s enough to love yourself!

Love People. Once you commit your life to Christ and experience true love and learn to love yourselves…spread it with others! ~It’s contagious~ God loves unconditionally and so should we. We shouldn’t put conditions around love. I’ll love you if________fill in the blank. God loves so freely. Yes there is sin but God says love the sinner hate the sin. He doesn’t say hate or judge the sinner or love their sin. He simply says…LOVE. He didn’t intend for us to carry the burden of the sins in this world so stop trying to. Stop judging. I know it’s sooooo easy to get caught up in bashing this or that sin but we need to learn to…just love. Yes we can freely take up for God’s word and what it says but we shouldn’t do it out of hatred or selfish ambitions. A Facebook post blasting another person does nothing except…not share the Love of Christ. How many Facebook blasts would God have for each of us daily if He chose to do that??? Instead He loves us and allows us to start fresh each day. If we do what God’s called us to do..love..He will take care of the rest. Out of us loving ,God will convict the sinner of the sin. Jesus walked amongst drunkards and prostitutes and shared the same love with them as He did His disciples. Loving others unconditionally is a supernatural act and is why we must connect ourselves to the Source. Remember, this isn’t supposed to be in our own abilities…it’s through Christ who strengthens us.

I want to challenge you (as well as myself) to seek God with all you have. Connect yourself to him…Love Him as hard as you can. Out of that relationship, love yourself. Love who you are in Him. Share that love with others, love His people. Give out what you have received. Out love one another…this is what our “Real Mission” in life is.

Living Free

“Keep company with Me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:30

Love this verse!! Life is so hectic and we often get busy doing “things” and get distracted from what really matters. At a young age…I see that “big ticket items” are not what brings happiness. It’s not driving a BMW (which I have in the past), it’s not living in a HUGE house, it’s not making more $$$ than you know what to do with, it’s not having the latest and greatest, it’s not being the “top dog” at your job….it’s simply the moments and laughter you share with those you love. When you keep company with the Master…you are satisfied. It doesn’t mean the desire of the flesh goes away but it means you can have true fulfillment in Him. See when you become materialistic, you can never have enough…once you have the car, then you need a bigger house, then a boat, then a second home etc….it’s a chain of never-ending misery.  I’m so thankful that we can LIVE FREE and not have to torture ourselves with “never being good enough”. I have learned that I am most fulfilled when I’m watching my 2 year old laugh at me making goofy faces or when the love of my life and I are spending time together…these things are the furthest from materialism. I am most fulfilled when I am worshipping my Father, when He meets me where I am and says, child I love you.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with wanting to own nice things in life but when those nice things own you….they begin sucking the joy from your being. You will never be truly fulfilled until you “dine with the King”. He is your source, your joy, your happiness. Come to Him and He will sustain you.

Today I want to challenge you to laugh more with the ones you love. Spend more time with your Creator. Enjoy each moment of life and don’t take one second for granted. God is good and He wants you to live lightly and freely.
