From Shackles to Freedom

“It is for Freedom, that I am Set Free” -All Sons & Daughters

Forgiveness offers SO much Freedom. When forgiveness is issued it releases a person from a wrong that was done. The person who “gives out” forgiveness is strengthened through Christ. On the flip side, unforgiveness is like building a prison around your life. Holding a grudge will absolutely disable You. Unforgiveness in your heart will cause you pain, strife and restlessness. It’s crazy to even begin to wrap your mind around ALL of the wrongs Jesus has forgiven. He even forgave those “who did not know what they do”. Think about giving out forgiveness so freely that you even forgive those who would think about doing something negative towards you. I’m not saying let someone run over you…but live free of ofenses…let them go.

How loved I feel when I think about the grace I’ve been covered with.

Matthew 6:14-15 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins” OUCH….Our Father obviously means business. This verse shows how important forgiveness is. So many times someone upsets us and we can’t think about “letting them off the hook again”. Luke 17:4 says “Even if that person wrongs you SEVEN TIMES A DAY and EACH time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive. (Think of all the times just one Human sins per day and God covers them with Grace…) Forgiveness, I believe, is tied to Freedom. You can’t honestly give true love if you have bitterness in your heart. You can’t give pure worship with unforgiveness in your heart. I challenge you to pause a moment and listen to the song below. Think of someone you are holding unforgiveness towards…

It could be over something silly that happened at work, school, church or home. It could be something that has rocked your world and truly devastated you. Unforgivness, no matter the circumstance, is holding you back from the Freedom God has to offer. Ephesian’s 4:32 says “Instead, be kind to each other, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ ahs forgiven you. This will not happen over night…You will have to ask God for help. God has a plan for your life and the enemy “distracts” you with bitterness. I pray that God will reveal the hurt and bitterness deep down inside and bring it to light. I pray that He will help tear down the prison that has been built up around you for far too long. I pray that like a bird freed from a cage…Your life will be completely released so that He can fully empower you and you can honestly share His grace.
